Hot mail is just sending messages whilst windows live messenger is first off all amazing i love it.
It has more features avatars style of writing and colour background smileys and winkies.
And so on also with windows live messenger you can see with a bar around your contacts if they are typing on msn for example:
If the bar is half green it means they aren't doing anything and it is slowing going to red if it is fully red they haven't touched msn for ages and if its grey they are offline.
