When I try to sign into Windows Live Messenger.......I am getting error code: 80048820 and extended error code: 80048439. I can't sign into my hotmail either!

I'm not aware of hotmail issues, but as for Live Messenger, I just answered someone elses question about the same error codes a moment ago. Here is the solution:
This has become an issue for many Messenger users. An offical support blog has been created to resolve the issues.
You can go here to see the latest advice to resolve the problem. There are quite a few to work through, but thus far one or more of these is reconnecting Messenger users worldwide.
Assuming your firewall (if you have one) is not the issue I recommend scrolling down page to the option #7which shows you how to manually re-register the SSL security libraries. That is the most likely issue when firewall is not the problem.
If that fails then its a case of trying each resolution one by one till you resolve the issue.
