Hotmail > yahoo messenger?

i have yahoo mail, not the messenger, because that kills my computer.


my friend has hotmail, and we can't chat, because if he tries to get to me, then it says that i dont have a net. passport.


if i try to chat with him, then it says that i have to enter a valid yahoo address.





i heard that you have to get msn or windows live to get a net. passport, but both of these clog up my computer, which is a windows vista, bought last year





please help!

Try a Cross platform IM program like Digsby or Pidgin.


However Live Messenger is extremely small program, so i cant see how it clogs up your PC unless its in really bad shape, in which case id ask a techy mate to have a look over it.


Also Yahoo and Live should be able to IM each other, it was a feature added quite a few months ago, jsut add them as a contact.
Reply:If your friend is using Windows Live Messenger, the latest version, he should be able to add you to his contacts, even though you're using Yahoo. This is described in very brief detail here:

According to this help page, you should be able to add and contact your friend using Yahoo Mail's built in chat (but they do need to be running the latest version of Windows Live Messenger), as described here:
