A better beta to try would be Microsoft's new Windows Live Mail, just go to http://www.live.com/ and under it should say "Don't have Live Mail?, apply now!" Just fill in your current Hotmail or MSN address, and it will put you on the waiting list.
In the meantime, try Gmail (or Yahoo! ;)) :)
