Do I need Hotmail for MSN (Live Windows) Messenger?

i was thinking about getting msn for the summer holidays- but i don't have hotmail and am not too keen on getting it. also, i really don't want to become addicted to it cos i only want it so i can talk to people over the summer- so does it get really addictive and do you need hotmail?

You need a Windows Live ID account which comes with a hotmail address automatically. You don't need to use the hotmail portion.





And to answer your other question, yes, messenger can be addictive.

And to my opinion, it was kinda cool with the nice appearance and nice smileys. And you can make your name more abundant and neater by creating your own with your favorite saying or lyrics or etc chocked up with the smileys so its kinda fun. And i heard the webcam there was clearer too, i didn't have a cam to check tho. But i didn't like it as much as yahoo messenger. Maybe because i can't go to rooms there, or I don't know how. Anyway i think if you like the new thing or better appearance looking you might like msn, me too, but i wasn't addicted to it, so i think maybe you too. Anyway it's worth a try.
Reply:You only need live messenger ID. You do have to create a user name and password and the hot mail account is added. That doesn't mean that you have to use the hot mail account, although, by not logging in to your account from time to time will cause msn to eventually delete your account.
