I'm using Yahoo messenger 8.1.0.421
When i click add contact to add a hotmail address, theres no drop-down list of networks (yahoo, windows live). It's just a plain field for the ID or email address. When i type the whole email address, it doesnt add the contact but instead sends an invitation.

You need to download the latest YIM to do that. just go to www.messenger.yaho.com to get the new one.
